Alliance for Water, Health and Development:

Living Labs Water Indonesia

The Alliance for Water, Health and Development is a network for collaborative research and PhD education. Our aim is to enhance the understanding of the interrelations of Water, Health and Development issues and providing solutions to problems in this field.

Parties currently involved are the Dutch institutes Radboud University, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Open University, and Deltares. From the Indonesian side, the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Universitas Katolik Soegijapranata are involved.

As a unifying conceptual framework, we have adopted the Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development.

Our current collaboration project with Indonesia focuses on sustainable water resources management of the Upper Citarum River Basin in West Java (see Projects for information on our PhD projects.

Because of the many shared fields of interests, our Alliance at Radboud University is collaborating closely with the Royal Academy of Sciences SPIN-DIKTI project New Indonesian Frontiers and ANGIN


The latest activities:

This year, the Alliance held two consecutive workshop on the field of (micro)plastics and pharmaceutical waste. The first workshop was conducted in Bandung and invited stakeholders from academia, industry and other private actors, public actors, and NGO. The second workshop was held in Nijmegen and attended by scholars from Radboud University, Open University, UGM and Unika Soegijapranata.
